What is Elsewhere?

We all know where "here" is: it's where you are. And "there" is everywhere you are not. Elsewhere is in between.

At its core, Elsewhere is a feeling. Perhaps it’s a sense of euphoria, happiness, or the rush of being in love. It feels like a secret, something deeply personal that only you can truly experience. Whatever form it takes, it provides purpose—a sense of understanding and belonging.

For me, house music and its culture became my Elsewhere—a place where I could escape, feel free, and connect with others who shared that freedom. It was a way to express myself, but for a long time, I didn’t have a word to describe it. Then, I watched The Institute (2012), a documentary about an interactive altered reality experiment in San Francisco in 2008. That’s when I finally found the word: Elsewhere.

Curiosity is essential to this journey. Start with the trailer, and if it intrigues you, dive deeper and watch the movie. Keep in mind, it’s not for everyone.
